Art Institute of Chicago: Day Two

August 19, 2017 No Comments

On day two at the Chicago Art Institute, we went back for seconds of the gorgeous 19th Century art.  We also had time to discover some beautiful Modern and Medival wonders that we fell in love with.

I felt really inspired by the colors in these gorgeous Art Nouveau vases.  I am a huge fan of this particular hue of green, which you see a lot in Post-Impressionist and Art Nouveau art.  You see it in Lautrec’s At the Moulin Rouge painting.

I am not much of a Chagall scholar but I have loved his work ever since I first started running into it in Paris.  His ceiling in the Paris Opera House is wonderful too.  This is the first time I had seen or heard of his America Windows.  They are wonderful.

There was also some really beautiful Medieval and Gothic art.

I am not typically a fan of armor displays, but this was really well done.  I found it much more interesting in action.
